The Challenge we are Tackling
Farmers worldwide are under persistent pressure. Finding skilled operators is increasingly difficult, regulatory thresholds on emissions are tightening, and the economics of traditional machinery are being inspected as never before. At the same time, the global demand for more sustainable, traceable food production is only growing.
These forces call for a fundamentally different kind of agricultural machine, one that works autonomously, produces zero emissions, and is capable enough to handle the demanding workloads of mid-to-large-scale farming operations.
How do we contribute?
Quantillion Technologies is the autonomous systems and software lead in Project AURA. We designed and built the full technology stack that makes the tractors truly autonomous: the sensor fusion architecture, the path planning and navigation algorithms, the safety and obstacle-avoidance systems, and the intelligent software that ties it all together.
We collaborate closely with our partners EOX, who engineer and manufacture the electric tractor, and Zegenpolder B.V., who bring real-world agricultural expertise to the programme.
At the core of the AURA project, is a purpose-built, zero-emission agricultural vehicle, designed to operate and run on an anonymous system developed by Quantillion and EOX tractors. Using a precision combination of GPS positioning and LIDAR sensing, the system can navigate field environments independently, following pre-defined routes, detecting and avoiding obstacles, and adapting in real-time to changing conditions.
The platform is engineered for versatility: a single vehicle can perform multiple tasks across the agricultural cycle:
seeding and planting, mowing and cutting, eco-ploughing with reduced soil compaction, on-field transport…
And many more…
Unlike conventional tractors, our tractors feature independence and provide a level of precision, manoeuvrability, and ground adaptability that traditional machinery simply cannot match.
What sets us apart from others
Many solutions in the market offer either partial autonomy or partial electrification, ours integrates both, fully autonomous operations powered by Quantillion and a fully zero-emission electric EOX tractor, in a single versatile vehicle.
This innovative combination is built for real agriculture work, where many autonomous machines are limited to light-duty tasks. Our system can handle heavier, more diverse workloads that mid-to-large farming enterprises require. Which ultimately means fewer machines to procure and operate, lower total cost of ownership, and a significantly reduced environmental footprint.
Regional Roots, Global Ambition
The development of the AURA project is based in the East Netherlands, contributing to the region's growing reputation as a hub for smart, sustainable agri-technology. The project supports local industrial capacity and high-quality employment while building capabilities with international reach.
Supported by the EFRO programme (European Fund for Regional Development), this project is positioned to become an internationally recognised benchmark for the future of precision agriculture.
